What data Nuvio handles when you use accounts, sync, community features, support, and diagnostics.

Last updated August 8, 2026

1. Who operates Nuvio

Nuvio Media operates Nuvio. It is responsible for the personal data Nuvio handles for accounts, Nuvio Sync, the Nuvio website, community features, support, and first-party diagnostics.

Send privacy questions and requests to hello@nuvio.tv.

2. Data Nuvio handles

The data Nuvio handles depends on which features you use, which build you install, which services you connect, and whether you enable or submit diagnostic reports.

  • Account and authentication data: your email address, account identifier, account status, authentication events, recovery requests, and session information. Nuvio's authentication system processes passwords and recovery credentials.
  • Nuvio Sync data: profiles, profile names and configuration, addons, collections, library data and favorites, watch progress, watched history, and TV or mobile settings.
  • Community data: cover uploads, collection titles, descriptions, tags and contents, likes, reports, appeals, moderation records, and the account identifiers connected to those actions.
  • Support data: your messages, email address, attachments, and any other details you provide when you ask for help or report a problem.
  • Website and operational data: authentication sessions stored on your device, theme and interface preferences, your IP address, user agent, request metadata, timestamps, and security or rate limit events processed by the website, APIs, hosting, and infrastructure providers.
  • Browser and device storage: local or session storage used for authentication sessions, active profile and theme choices, installation identifiers, cached public data, dismissed notices, and temporary community collection drafts. Clearing this storage may sign you out or reset those choices.

3. Crash reports and diagnostics

When crash reporting is set up and turned on, Nuvio may send crash, error, and ANR information to Sentry. A report can include the app version and build, device model, operating system, error details, and limited network or activity context used to find the cause of the failure.

Authentication and playback reports may include app and device information, endpoint hosts, protocol and timing information, response status, network environment, error details, playback state, content identifiers or titles, selected tracks, codec and display information, performance measurements, and limited logs or events. Some authentication reports may contain limited request or response context. Automated filters remove common credential fields. Even so, never intentionally include passwords, tokens, cookies, API keys, or login codes in a support report.

Nuvio uses diagnostic data to keep the service reliable and secure, provide support, and prevent abuse. Where available, app controls let you turn off crash reporting or clear diagnostic information waiting on your device.

4. Local data and network activity

You can use Nuvio's core features without a Nuvio Sync account. If you do, your library data, watch activity, and settings normally stay on your device instead of being stored in Nuvio Sync. That does not mean every action stays offline. Nuvio may still contact metadata providers, selected addons, media sources, update or support services, and diagnostic services based on your settings and actions.

Nuvio does not host movies, shows, live channels, subtitles, or other media files. Providers of the sources you select can receive your IP address, request details, and any credentials or identifiers their service requires. If your build supports peer-to-peer playback and you turn it on, peers, trackers, and related providers can see your IP address. If you send playback to an external player, that player can receive the media URL, headers, or subtitle information you selected.

Nuvio uses browser storage for essential sessions, security, preferences, and the temporary or cached functions described above. Nuvio Media does not use this storage for targeted advertising. Independent services you choose to contact may use their own cookies, identifiers, or storage under their own policies.

5. How and why Nuvio uses data

  • Provide accounts, authentication, Nuvio Sync, and the app features you request.
  • Restore settings and activity for the profiles on your account.
  • Deliver metadata, requests to media sources, and other services you direct Nuvio to use.
  • Run, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve Nuvio while preventing abuse.
  • Publish and moderate community submissions, reports, appeals, and shared collections.
  • Answer support, privacy, safety, and legal requests.
  • Follow the law and enforce Nuvio's terms and platform requirements.

Depending on the situation, Nuvio processes data to provide a service you request, based on your consent or choices for optional features, for Nuvio Media's legitimate interests in security and service reliability, or to meet a legal obligation.

6. Infrastructure, service providers, and services you choose

  • Nuvio account and sync infrastructure: Nuvio Media operates account authentication, the Nuvio Sync database, and API processing.
  • Sentry: processes crash, error, and ANR information when reporting is set up and turned on.
  • TMDB and other metadata providers: supply posters, descriptions, cast information, ratings, and related metadata.
  • Trakt: provides an optional account connection and watch history sync.
  • MDBList and debrid providers: provide optional ratings, account, library, or link resolution features you select.
  • Addons, sources, external players, and peer-to-peer services you select: receive the requests and data needed to carry out your chosen action.
  • Hosting, infrastructure, email, and support providers: deliver and protect the website, APIs, messages, and operational systems.

Independent services process data under their own terms and privacy policies. Nuvio Media does not sell or rent personal data and does not use it for targeted advertising. Nuvio may also disclose data when the law requires it, when needed to protect users or the service, or when you direct Nuvio to do so.

7. Public and community information

Community covers, collection titles, descriptions, tags, and other content submitted for publication may be public. Nuvio uses likes, reports, appeals, moderator actions, and account identifiers internally to run and protect community features. Nuvio does not intend to display email addresses publicly with a submission.

8. Retention and account deletion

Nuvio generally keeps account and Nuvio Sync data while your account is active or while it is needed for a feature you requested. Nuvio keeps community and moderation records while the content remains published and for as long as reasonably needed to address safety, abuse, appeals, legal claims, or repeat violations. Support messages, diagnostics, and operational logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for support, reliability, security, and legal purposes.

To delete an account, use the account-deletion page. After an authenticated deletion succeeds, Nuvio removes the account and its linked Nuvio Sync data from active systems. Some records may remain temporarily in rolling backups or when Nuvio must keep them for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal reasons. Nuvio keeps those records separate from normal product use and removes or de-identifies them when the reason for keeping them ends.

Deleting your Nuvio account does not delete information held by independent services you connected, such as Trakt, a debrid provider, an addon, or an external player. Contact those providers directly to exercise your rights over the data they control.

9. Security

Nuvio uses access controls, authentication, data minimization, credential filtering, and other technical and organizational safeguards suited to the service. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. HTTP endpoints, self-signed services, addons, media sources, and external players you select may offer different security guarantees from first-party services. Review a service before connecting it. Never send passwords, tokens, API keys, or login codes to Nuvio support.

If Nuvio Media learns of a personal data breach, it will investigate and take reasonable steps to contain the incident and limit its effects. Nuvio Media will notify affected people and the relevant authorities when the law requires notice.

10. Your choices and rights

  • Use Nuvio without a Nuvio Sync account where Nuvio supports that option.
  • Use account and profile controls to view, correct, or remove synced data.
  • Turn off optional diagnostics where controls are available.
  • Delete your account or request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion when those rights apply.
  • Withdraw consent for consent-based processing without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
  • Complain to the appropriate data protection authority when that right applies.

Send a request to hello@nuvio.tv. Nuvio Media may need to verify that the requester controls the affected account.

11. International processing

The providers Nuvio Media uses may process data in different countries. When required, Nuvio Media uses appropriate contracts or other recognized safeguards for international transfers. Your local privacy rights may still apply when data is processed elsewhere.

12. Children

Nuvio is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from a child who cannot legally consent to that processing in their country without a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child provided account or community data without the required permission, contact Nuvio Media. It will review the information and delete it when appropriate.

13. Changes to this policy

Nuvio Media may update this policy when Nuvio's features, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The date at the top shows when this version was last updated. Nuvio Media will announce material changes on the website, in the apps, through account notices, or through another appropriate channel.
